I was contemplating what, from this weekend, I wanted to add to my blog. After thinking about it a while, I concluded why not take you through the entire weekend. So let’s start at the beginning, Saturday morning.
Saturday more was a “late” start for us. We were up at 0530 and out of the house [...]
Barb and I headed to Bowman’s Hill yesterday morning – she to go on a bird walk, I to photograph some wildflowers and both of us to buy some flowers at their annual native plant sale. By all accounted the morning was a success even though (if you live around these parts, you know this [...]

My wife and I made a morning trip to Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve (New Hope, PA) to see what was blooming and what I could photograph while she did some birding. Truth be told, she had a much better day birding than I had photographing wildflowers. [...]

Before I get too far from the weekend past, I want to post one more flower image from our visit to Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve in New Hope, Pa. I thought this might be the highlight of the day, then I came across the Yellow Lady’s [...]

When I saw that the little pond at Bowman’s Hill was choked with Duckweed, I started to scan through the sea of green looking for frogs. I was able to spot several and photograph a few. Of all the images, I liked this one the best.
This [...]

We went to Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve in New Hope, Pa. today for their annual native plant sale. We have been slowly turning over our very modest backyard with native plants and wildflowers. This year we purchased some Purple Coneflowers and a couple of varieties of [...]

I just love the Trilliums. My guidebook, Wildflowers of Pennsylvania, says these “large, showy white flowers are 2 to 4 inches across and fade to a rosy pink.” This particular flower is obviously early in the cycle and pretty pure white.
Image was made last weekend at Bowman’s Hill [...]

Another wildflower image from Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve in New Hope, Pa. I found these growing in a marshy area that was home to many Marsh Marigolds as well as the Wood Poppies that I posted a couple of days [...]
Wide-angle Close-up
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned an ill-fated attempt at wide-angle close-up photography. I had a chance to try again this past Saturday while photographing a field of Virginia Bluebells at Bowman’s Hill. I read about this technique in Bryan Peterson’s new book - Understanding Close-up Photography. I put my Sigma 10-20mm lens on my [...]

Yesterday, we made a return visit to Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve in New Hope, Pa. Things change rapidly in the wildflower world and there were some new flowers [...]
