I was lamenting about today’s snowfall (the second big storm in four days) over on Facebook and then decided I needed to think Spring. So I went back into my wildflower images from early last Spring and came up with one of my favorites, the simple Trout Lily, to reprise. I did rework it a bit using the Nik filters and think it is a stronger image for it.
Not a whole lot to say here except…

Wonderful photo Edward, and believe me, … my feet certainly has been thinking about Spring for a long while now!
Really love the comp and details in this photo, the colors and then the light used, and that background is simply killer for this type of shot.
Very cool!
Michael
Meanwhile I’m sitting here, HOPING they were right about the 1-3 inches of snow predicted for our area tomorrow.
Beautiful image! I really like how the yellow pops agains the creamy background.
I’m enjoying an early Sring out here for you!
Cool background Ed! Love the contrasting colors and feel!
Sp pretty against the pearly background. I saw trout lilies for the first time last summer at Wolfe’s Neck Park in Freeport. They don’t grow in my woods.
Lovely! What a joy to see a trout lily! This one is beautifully photographed. Love that BG–what is it? Is it a filter? It works really well. (Those little spots on the petals are a bit distracting to me. Clone them?)
Thanks everyone. Appreciate all the nice words. Anita, the background is water, believe it or not. The trout lilies were growing along the stream bank. I made the image in the evening close to sunset on what I remember to be an overcast day.
Very pretty shot, Ed! I’m also looking forward to the start of the wildflower season.
In my state of mind, I kept thinking the lily was surrounded by snow! Ha! Yes, the watery background is lovely. And that deep yellow color is much needed at this time of the year. Yay, spring’s a comin”!
Sweet… is still a long ways off here in Maine though, but thanks for the preview
Good photo with nice light, simple yet strong composition and nice contrast between the flower and the background.
I think we are all thinking about spring these days
We have unusually long and harsh winter this year.
Truly gorgeous in detail and color and as a solo flower. Looking so forward to spring!
Fantastic Ed. The picture says it all… Beautiful spring is awaited by a lot of people
Great photo—where in the world did you find a flower surviving this snow?
