Never forget that “image” forms the root of “imagination”.
Another toy for my bag. Another kind of image to look at. Another opportunity to use our imagination in composing the image, making the image, processing the image and looking at the image.
The fisheye optic for my Lensbaby Composer arrived on Wednesday and I couldn’t wait to get out and give it whirl. So yesterday, despite the cold blustery weather, I headed out on my lunch break to make a few images. I had remembered this stump from previous walks in the park and quickly headed it’s way. As I stood there looking at the stump, I imagined it as the opening to the underworld home of gnomes. I made a few images, my first with the fisheye optic, and hoped that at least one of the gnomes would stick its head out but such was not the case yesterday. Too cold, I guess.
Image made with my Canon 30D, Lensbaby Composer with fisheye optic; handheld.
1/250 sec @ f/4.0; ISO 100; o EV; Sunny WB
Just as a note, I need to work on balancing out the fisheye-induced vignetting in the corners.

Love the title!! Also like the effect of the fisheye. I look forward to more.
oooooo sweet! let me know if you see one… i don’t think they like to be seen, but they might want to see your new toy. ; )
Looks very cool!
How fun! I hope to get a fish eye lens some day too!
I hope you catch the little gnomes with your camera! It’s been a while since I’ve seen any myself! ;o)
I think of things like that all the time in the woods. Hey, you never know!
The pines on the front page remind me of a textile print. I like the way it came out.
I love that shot! A little surprised to see that there isn’t a little sign over their door.
Like the idea and the title. It seems that you’re pretty excited about your new toys. We’re all just grown kids after all, ain’t we?
Just remember Tomas, “He who dies with the most toys, wins!”
Nice find of that stump – it does look like a little home. I am not sure the LB Fisheye is for me yet, but this shot is pretty cool.
I really like this! Gosh, where’s a good gnome when you need one???
Fun shot with the fisheye. Not sure how you can work with the vignetting, I just crop within. When I take the vignetting off, then the photo looses it’s fisheye effect. Of course I don’t know what I am doing, but I do believe in having fun.
