I’ve been working my way through the images made on our recent visit to Bar Harbor/Acadia and Machias Seal Island. Here are a few more Puffin images for your viewing pleasure. (At least I hope you find it a pleasure!)
All images were shot from a bird blind on the island and with my Canon 50D and 300mm f/2.8L IS lens, handheld (mostly balanced on the window ledge).
We’ve done this trip with Bold Coast Tours out of Cutler, Maine for the past two Junes and I can’t say enough good things about Captain Andy and this trip. If you ever have the chance, don’t pass it up.

So adorable! Great shots!
Gosh Ed,
This whole sequence is just awesome. I never managed to get them like that, it has been either raining or cloudy each time that I went to see puffins!!! The meastro is a perfect picture, nice wing action adn very dynamic!!
Those are great, Ed! What adorable subjects!
I think it goes without saying that these photos are amazing! Thank you for sharing the specs on your photo techniques; I am an amateur and am trying to learn as much as I can about photographing animals. Looking forward to visiting your site,
Jessica
I’m gobsmacked!
Love the captions,… you got it right every time!
The Olympic Dive speaks to me here. Great title. You did a really nice job on all these photos.
The squawker is priceless! Giving you a piece of his mind, for sure!
nice capture of “the squacker”! very cute pictures… i’ll put bar harbour on my bucket list!!
Amazing photographs, Ed. I love the color and detail. That 300 2.8 is an A+++ winner for sure and you certainly know how to use it to best effect.
Beautiful shots. I’ve never seen this bird before except in National Geographic. Your capture outdid NG.
These are great. I may want to think heading up there in summer rather than in fall just to see these…
